There is nothing quite like an ice cold glass of tea on a hot Summer day! In this post, you'll find recipes for sun tea or quick stove-top iced by the gallon and how to brew a single cup of quick iced tea.
In our home, there is ALWAYS a big ol' jug of iced tea in our fridge (even in the Winter). Here is one of our family favorites using Gnat & Bee Forest Berry Loose Black Tea. This blend has bits of dried strawberries and rose hips throughout a nice body of Assam Tea, as well as Honeysuckle flowers which add the delicate hint of floral that balances out the shining strawberry in this blend. I am very certain that this will become a favorite in your home as well.
Forest Berry Sun Tea (makes 1 gallon)
Place 1/2 Cup of loose Forest Berry tea into a 2 quart container.
Next, add water and stir.
Cap and place in sun for 3-5 hours, move jar with the Sun as needed
Strain out loose tea and add liquid along with 1/2 cup of sugar (or to your own taste preference) to your 1 gallon jug.
Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Finally, fill up the rest of the jug with ice cold water. Enjoy!
If you don't want to wait for sun tea, or when winter is upon us, here are the quick stove top directions.
Stove-top Quick Iced Tea:
Fill a large pan with 2 quarts of water.
Heat until boiling, turn off heat.
Add 1/2 cup of Forest Berry tea to water with 1/2 Cup of sugar ( or to your own taste preference) Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Steep for 8 minutes, then strain into your pitcher.
Top with ice cold water. Enjoy!
Single Cup Quick Iced Tea:
Add 2 Tbsp loose leaf tea into an 8oz mason jar or mug.
Bring water to a boil and pour over the loose leaf tea, filling it to the top.
Let the tea steep for 5-10 minutes (less time for white & green tea)
Fill a 16 oz glass or pint size mason jar to the top with ice.
Add honey or sugar to the hot tea and pour over the cup full of ice through a strainer.
Stir well and enjoy!
Add some fresh Lemon Balm, Mint or Citrus to garnish your glass if you'd like.
You can also do 1/4 Cup of Forest Berry with 4 black tea bags for this recipe.
A general rule of thumb when making iced tea is, if you want to make a half gallon of tea (2 quarts), use 4 tea bags. If you want to make a gallon use 8 tea bags.If the tea is too strong, simply add more water to your glass.

*This recipe works well with all Gnat and Bee teas. So many of the blends are wonderful hot and iced! You may find that you want to adjust tea/sweetener amounts to your own liking.
So much warm spicy goodness. It is definitely a real great version of chai. I am learning to venture out and try something I may think isn’t going to be much different , it was a wonderful addition to the chai choices.
My mother had a dessert named cherry delight, and it was as delightful as this tea. I find myself wishing the cup would last longer, but I usually end up and treat myself to a 2nd cup. It is definitely one of my favorite tea blends. Thank you for having the talent and knowledge to put all the right ingredients together to make this delightful tea .
This was a wonderful delight to my senses, I’m glad I decided to try it out even though I normally steer clear of caffeine. It was Juilliard of flavor and the caffeine wasn’t too strong.
Genmaicha has been my favorite tea ever since my dad brought a canister home for me from a trip to Japan in the early 2000's. I've bought or ordered it from a number of different tea companies over the years, and this is one of the best I've tried. The flavor is really exception - delicate and balanced, nutty and buttery and cozy. It's been the perfect WFH beverage on this overcast and slightly chilly spring morning.
This tea was a delight in every way. Like wrapping yourself in a warm hug. I will be ordering this regularly. The Spiicy richness and full bodied flavor is absolutely divine.
I've been using Jen's soaps from Ash House for a couple of years now. I absolutely love them! I use them in the shower and at our sinks around our house. She makes soaps with the best scents and everything is natural! I am so happy to see her products at Gnat & Bee!
My husband is finally starting to enjoy a daily tea...step aside coffee! Ritual Chai has by far been his favorite tea. A lot of people do not like chai because it tastes "too spicy". Ritual Chai is nice and smooth blend that any soul would enjoy! Take it from my husband! It's worth a try.
This is probably my favorite tea of all time! I enjoy making London Fogs with this specific loose tea. It my go-to tea for mornings or afternoon tea. Gnat & Bee's lavender earl grey is not overpowering with lavender. See for yourself and try the best of the best from Gnat & Bee!
